Preprint
The term preprint typically refers to ‘a manuscript that has not yet been peer-reviewed’ (Eve, 2014). For journals, this usually refers to the pre-submission and pre-peer-review version of the manuscript. For books however, a universially agreed upon definition of how this term applies to books is lacking.
